As we move forward, we hold even more to the belief that this community will rise and fall on its leadership. The leadership of Watershed consists of much more than a few individuals or a couple of faces you might see on stage on a Sunday morning. Threshold, our leadership community, is comprised of people who are committed to seeing the mission of Watershed realized. Each Threshold leader takes ownership in the forward motion of Watershed's mission and vision.  They value raising the bar in their own lives while pushing others towards a deeper holistic life with God.

Leadership Values at Watershed

As followers of Jesus, we are called to live differently - our lives are not our own.  We have been called to push aside ourselves for the benefit of others, and follow Jesus in ways that at times go against the grain of culture and self-indulgence. As we strive toward this life of abandonment, it is important to identify what we agree to say “Yes” to as a leadership culture.  We need not all be the same, but we do need to agree on who we are becoming and the mission to which God has called the church.  Threshold is a collective group of people within the larger community that have agreed on several essentials reflective of what it means to be “The Church”.  We ask each member of Threshold to align with and strive to live out each of the values below within the normal rhythms of life.

Value #1: A follower and student of Jesus.

The call is to be a disciple of Jesus and to make disciples of others.  Those are the last words of Jesus and are at the epicenter of who we hope to be as servant leaders of others and followers of God himself.  In order to be involved and active within Threshold, it is imperative that you have embraced Jesus and are in an ongoing discovery of your faith and obedience journey in him alone.  We value being a student and follower of Jesus in ongoing discovery.

Value #2: A life of high expectation.
As leaders, our calling is to live a faithful and surrendered life.  God has communicated his great confidence in us by entrusting and empowering us with his mission. We should have high expectations for ourselves.  Our decisions and life choices are important and significant to how others perceive God and grab hold of Jesus. We value and employ biblical principles to help provide clarity on what it means to pursue a life of purity and holiness honoring to God and for the benefit of others.  We value deeply this personal and corporate pursuit of purity and holiness.

Value #3: Personal vulnerability.
For whatever reason, God has chosen normal people like you and I to make disciples.  In order for us to be the type of people God can use on this front, it is important that we are honest, open, approachable and malleable. We value vulnerability with one another because, as shepherds, mentors and leaders, it creates opportunities for transformation.

Value #4:  Alignment with the purpose and values of Watershed.
A church unified in its mission and values has a greater health, vibrancy and effectiveness in its calling to present Jesus as the foundational hope of the world.  As a leadership community, we value and align with the Purpose and Values of Watershed.

Purpose:  Watershed is a missional community engaging Jesus and People in life.

Value #5:  Investment of time, energy and resource towards Watershed.
The original calling of God’s People both in the old and new testament is that of “being a blessing”  We are called to leverage and utilize the time, energy and resources, given to us by God, in ways that will benefit others and align with his Kingdom Purposes.  We value generous living and we expect leaders to commit a God influenced portion of these areas towards the community of Watershed.
