WEST VIRGINIA :: partnering with Habitat to provide homes
According to the Center for Housing Policy and the WV Habitat for Humanity, as much as 30% of West Virginia’s population cannot afford the fair market rent in their area. Families with low to moderate incomes pay as much as 50% of their income for housing, leaving food and medical care as an unaffordable luxury for many. Using volunteer labor, selling houses for no profit and providing no-interest mortgages, Habitat seeks to break the cycle of poverty that hangs over families for generations.

Each Summer, Watershed sends a team to Parkersburg, WV to work on a home for a family through Habitat For Humanity. The group works on the house during the day, and camps out near the work site in the evenings. No construction experience is needed; only a willingness to work hard in order to serve a family in need. The group typically leaves on a Wednesday, and returns the following Sunday.  For more information on next year's trip, contact Scott Miller
