DONNA O’NEIL

ADMINISTRATION / CO-FOUNDER OF WATERSHED

LAUGHTER-INDUCER / SNUGGIE-OWNING SONGBIRD / MAMA OF 2 WITH A HEART FOR THE WORLD

ME IN A NUTSHELL:
Life has never been dull for the O'Neils.  In 1995 I married Matt and to say we have lived an adventure is an understatement.  We have two amazing kiddos through the gift of adoption, needless to say I am a HUGE adoption advocate. Love me some music...guess you could say that is my passion to do a lil sangin as we call it in KY.  I am a brand spanking' new Radiological Technologist (a fancy way of saying "X-ray tech")  The Hoferts (other co-founding couple) are our best friends on the planet and I am pumped that we were allowed to be a part of starting this crazy thing called Watershed.  The lives that have been transformed, the amazing people God has brought to the mix, and the justice projects that are taking place is far more than we ever could have dreamed of ourselves.

POINT OF ORIGIN:
Lexington, KY GO BIG BLUE (not that into sports but I wouldn't be from KY if I did not halfway pretend to be a fan)

NO THANKS:
Not into going camping or any outdoorsy sporting things canoeing, hiking, rafting, skiing, basically any sport that has -ing as the suffix on the end of it except for shop-ping NOTE: (Sorry to my hubby who so wants me to enjoy these outdoors events)

FAVORITE FACET OF WATERSHED:
OUTWARDLY FOCUSED
There are many things I appreciate, but I would say that I most appreciate that our community is more than just inwardly focused. The people of Watershed truly want to make a difference in the lives of the community and the world.

CURRENT LIFE LEARNING:
The past few years of my life have been a whirlwind I finished school and bam started working a full time job.  There are many days I feel I am the hamster on the wheel that is spinning out of control yet going nowhere fast…but I think I'm learning to appreciate the quiet moments of slowing down and seeing God in the quietness of those moments.  Stillness is a gift although I am still working on knowing how to be still.

TRIVIALITIES:
I'm kinda a dork but am not apologizing for it.  I love to be comfortable no matter how goofy I look.  Many of my neighbors have seen me in my Pink Snuggie and my dog has a matching one.  I love some fuzzy socks, or any socks from Walgreens (the three for $10 deal is so hard for me to pass up!)

BET YOU’D NEVER GUESS THAT:
I went to a high school dance with one of the Backstreet Boys (he was my buddy from school).  Yes, I have the picture to prove it and the big hair and blue eyeshadow that I sported in the photo are priceless.

GRUB & BEVERAGE OF CHOICE:
I could eat a mess of Snow Crab legs dipped in piping hot butter (yum)!
I love sweet lime soda (only found in India) and a good Apple-tini if I am out on a date or girls night out! As far as restaurants in Charlotte, I love Big Daddy's Burger Bar for just a fun kick back place to eat. Any place that sells Tater Tots is alright with me!

WHY I LOVE CHARLOTTE:
It seems like there is always something fun going on in Charlotte.  I love the big tall buildings lit up at night, the diversity of the people, the gallery crawls and the fact that we are only six hours from Kentucky instead of 13 (we used to live in FL)!

OTHER WAYS I SERVE IN OUR WATERSHED COMMUNITY:
I sing in the Watershed Band, I am our resident Data Entry girl, I help serve in our Watershed Café on Sunday mornings and I host a Bloc at my home with my husband as well as attend the HER bloc when my schedule allows.

I ASPIRE TO:
I would like to be able to pour into the lives of others more.  Relationships mean so much to me and my goal is to take enough time to slow down and focus more on friendships and my family and growing closer to God in the process.
