“Worship is our response to God’s Divine initiative”
Kathryn Scott (singer/songwriter)
We are all born with an innate desire to worship. Worship at its very essence is "giving worth" to something beyond ourselves. We know that every second of our lives is an opportunity to give worth to someone or something. Worship transcends songs, instrumentation, or church services. Worship takes place every moment - in what we give our time, heart and energy towards. At Watershed, we have an understanding of worship as a relational, interactive discourse with God. On Sunday mornings in Transit, worshipping God takes on many forms. It happens as our volunteers gently rock newborns in Greenhouse kids’ area, as people embrace each other in the café area and enter with an encouraging word, and as we give thanks to God when hearing personal stories of those in our community who’ve been transformed by the love of Jesus. Sometimes we attempt to communicate the worth of God with songs, clapping and singing, and sometimes it’s non-verbal, but it's always heart-felt. So many ways to respond to God - and throughout the week, worship takes on even more forms as our community serves at-risk students at Walter G. Byers School, intentionally investing in each other through Blocs, giving of our resources and energy to meaningful causes, and the innumerable ways we respond to God in the ways that we live our everyday lives.
