When faith reaches an impasse, the temptation is often to reach back, grasping for ways in which old models can accommodate new information. But while an appreciation for what came before is important, Jesus spoke of the need for new paradigms better suited for a new kind of relationship with the divine. Like a plot twist you did not see coming, these new faith containers can be unsettling, but they also open up horizons of possibility that are nothing less than divinely inspired.
